Home.
I’ve just returned to Mt. Pleasant for a couple of days. I will be meeting with someone to discuss some ideas I have about starting a small publishing company. The idea is to be able to publish and print the works of poets in Michigan (and parts beyond) at a low cost.
Bonuses of being home: Tonight I get to sleep in a real bed, I’ll catch a Tigers game or two on the TV, and did I mention I’ll get to sleep in a real bed. It’s amazing how a little change of living situations puts life’s little ‘taking for grant-eds’ in my scope of awareness.
Another awesome bonus: Based on the incredibly generous donation of Joseph (the kind-hearted man I had a chance meeting with in St. Ignace, Michigan), my gas tank is full. There was even a little bit left over so I blew apart my budget by purchasing a volume of Pablo Neruda’s poetry. ‘The Poetry of Pablo Neruda’ contains nearly 600 poems, and at $20 that’s a total investmentĀ (I have a passionate distaste forĀ that word – investment) of 3.5 cents / poem. And you don’t have to worry about late fees!
P.S. – No word from Joyce, Tom, or Auntie, and my spirits about finding Artie have become a bit less than usual. I knew it was a long shot when I started, but I really thought (led myself to think) it was going to happen. I’m not giving up hope – it’s more like I’m looking for ways to recharge the battery of enthusiasm.
P.P.S. – For the past two days I’ve been moonlighting on another project. Located at michiganpoetry it’s an attempt to build a resource or database of information on Michigan poets living or dead. It’s still in infancy stage and there’s no actual poetry there, so it’s destined for a small audience. It’s my way of commencing to breathe as much life into Michigan Poetics as I can.
peace.
and love, don’t forget love.
